Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join our team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The selected individual will play a critical role in supporting the development, testing, and delivery of the program’s software solutions. The program has teams across multiple states including Florida and California.

Roles & Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:

  • Supports the development and execution of test plans and software test cases to verify subsystem functional requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis throughout the system’s lifecycle, provide recommendations to the supporting functions and act as the software subject matter expert for the testing team.
  • Supports short and long-term software test planning and execution of multiple baselines.
  • Assist with coordination of supporting organizations in executing and planning a test program, including our internal and external customers.
  • Provide support for post-test data processing and analysis, preparing detailed test reports as required to support test objectives.
  • Assist with implementing local system enhancements that will improve and support the performance of test assets.
  • Support cyber engineering efforts to ensure the system under test meets all cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines to manage automated deployment of infrastructure and applications in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings with leadership and customers, contributing to a broad range of program deliverables.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, minimal supervision, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
  • Occasional travel may be required

This position may be filled as a Principal Software Test Engineer or Sr. Principal Software Test Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Software Test Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 0 years with a PhD;

    - An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree

  • Experience in the software development lifecycle, including knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Python, Powershell, VisualBasic, Java, C++
  • Experience with Windows/Red Hat Linux operating systems and Virtual Machines (VMs)
  • Infrastructure automation experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform
  • Current DoD 8570/8140 IA Certification (Security+CE or similar) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Clearance: Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance with a background investigation date within 5 Years

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 9 years of experience; or 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 4 years with a PhD;

    - An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree

  • Experience in the software development lifecycle, including knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Python, Powershell, VisualBasic, Java, C++
  • Experience with Windows/Red Hat Linux operating systems and Virtual Machines (VMs)
  • Infrastructure automation experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform
  • Current DoD 8570/8140 IA Certification (Security+CE or similar) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Clearance: Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance with a background investigation date within 5 Years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Designing and implementing test automation tools\frameworks
  • Experience deploying secure applications in cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, and can elaborate on the “-aaS” hierarchy
  • Experience standing up a CI/CD pipeline
  • Familiarity in the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Cybersecurity Lifecycle
  • Knowledge of tactical datalinks and interoperability testing
  • Familiarity with data recording and analysis tools such as Wireshark and DRG
  • Active TS clearance


Salary Range: $83,000 USD - $124,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $102,900 USD - $154,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
