Northrop Grumman Space Components and Strategic Business Unit designs, manufactures and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration and national security space applications. The Group is leading supplier of space components that power and enable satellites of all classes, provides technical engineering services to government agencies and laboratories, and is developing exciting new satellite servicing and advanced space flight technologies.

The Space Components Business Unit is seeking a Production Planner 1 to join our team.  This position is located in Oxnard, CA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Releases and completes manufacturing work orders in ERP system and coordinates with schedulers to ensure that items are being processed according to specifications and time requirements.

  • Supports program planner/team with status of work in process (WIP) and evaluates material and tooling requirements throughout the life of the program.

  • Moves WIP to and from process centers and expedites as needed.

  • Kits parts and tools per Bill of Material and communicates constraints to program team.

  • Performs material cycle counts, assists with program close out and disposition.

  • Attends daily/weekly meetings to support program and production needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with ERP Systems (Costpoint a plus)

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-directed, proactive

  • Follow written and verbal instruction

  • Be willing to work overtime, as needed

  • Must be detailed oriented

  • Demonstrates understanding and is able to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools: LEAN, Six Sigma principles/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen.

  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 0 - 2 years of recent production control planning and scheduling experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Manufacturing and Operations experience highly desired.

  • Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint skills a must.

  • Perform physical requirements of the position: using pallet jack or other equipment move parts weighing up to 45/50 lbs., as required.

  • Ability to share own expertise with others effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • US citizenship required


Salary Range: $42,100 USD - $70,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
