Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Principle Engineer Manufacturing to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA Center of Excellence where technology and teamwork come together. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Engineering Team working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment.

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling

  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout

  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance

  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions

  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan

  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality

  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques

  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques

  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 5 years experience or 3 years with a Masters Degree

  • Experience with production assembly/fabrication including Digital Transformation, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, Systems Integration, IIoT, RFID, and/or production manufacturing operations

  • Must have a current active DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 5 years

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet it's business needs

  • Ability to work a 9/80 shift schedule while occasionally providing recurring weekend shift coverage and support

  • Experience in a fabrication and/or assembly manufacturing environment - Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project, Visio)

  • Self-starter who is able to work with minimal direction

  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Program Special Access

  • Solid modeling design skills (e.g., NX Siemens, CPLM, MES, CATIA, Solid Works)

  • Ability to demonstrate independent creative thinking and problem solving capabilities

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently in meeting customer requirements/expectations

  • Has direct experience communicating to all levels of the organization

  • Experience in the development, capture, and execution of R&D technology capabilities

  • Assessing maturity of new technology for transition to production

  • Experience with authoring proposals, technical documents, and procedures

  • Digital manufacturing software and hardware experience

  • Experience with CBA/ROI analysis and justifications

  • Project / Program Management skills (proposal creation, scheduling, budget tracking)

Salary Range: 92000 - 138000

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
