Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Essential Functions:

Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle activities and the Agile process

Review of software requirements for completeness and understandability.

Perform detailed design, code, and testing of those requirements at the domain level as well as support of system and operational testing.

Support tool development to support streamlining of current processes and development of continuous test integration environment.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelors of Science in a STEM discipline with at least 2 years of software development experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.

- Must be fluent in an Object-Oriented programming language either C++, C# or JAVA

- Must have US Citizenship

- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and SAP (Special Access Programs). These must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Software emphasis degree – BS SW Engr. / BS Comp. Engr. / BS Comp. Sci. / similar

Familiarity with computer message formats and principles

Experience adhering to Coding Standards

Fluent in C++

Experience with Python

Familiarity with communication protocols, tactical data links (MIL-STD-188-220   and MIL-STD-6016)

Experience in complete software development life-cycle

Experience in Agile SW methodologies – Scrum / Kanban / Pair Programming / similar

Experience in CMMI Level 5 processes

Experience in using integrated development environment tools (e.g. Rhapsody) and real-time operating systems (e.g. Integrity, VxWorks)

Experience with Atlassian Suite of software development management tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Fisheye, Bamboo, Confluence).

Experience with Linux virtual development environment

Experience with modeling and simulation environment

Experience with hypervisors or containers


Salary Range: 82400 - 123600

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
