Northrop Grumman is seeking Program Cost, Schedule and Control Analyst intern to join the Defense Systems Intern program. This position will be located in Palmdale CA. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Special Programs under the Logistics and Modernization Division.

Responsibilities can include:

  • Prepares in-depth budgets and schedules for medium sized programs and performs analyses to ensure that contracts are within negotiated parameters and government cost control guidelines.
  • Performs financial analyses and prepares variance explanations, estimates to complete (EACs), and monthly corporate and customer reports related to cost/schedule performance, staffing, and sales outlook. 
  • Prepares program plans to ensure program requirements and statement of work are captured and scheduled.
  • Performs schedule risk assessments to identify and mitigate program cost and scheduling risks.
  • Ensures adequate funding availability by maintaining accurate records of expenditures, directing preparation of expenditure projections, and submitting timely requests for additional funding to the government.
  • Incorporates contractual changes into control systems by staying aware of outstanding work against each contract in order to maintain realistic contract cost and schedule baselines.
  • Works with the Program Management Team to establish budget baselines, update ETCs, and prepare variance explanations.
  • Prepares ROMs and supports proposal activity.
  • Interfaces with customer; works under limited supervision.

Basic Qualifications:

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2023
  • Be majoring in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)
  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2023
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3.7 cumulative GPA or higher
  • List out any additional preferred skills/attributes – some examples are below
  • Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups
  • Experience in working in an autonomous work environment on complex projects.
  • Knowledge of EVMS including preparation of report Formats 1-7
  • Knowledge of SAP, MPM, Cobra, Winsight

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.

The pay ranges for this specific opportunity are as follows:

  • Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $24.00 - $30.50
  • Masters degrees: $36.00 – $38.25



Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
