Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an MRB/Liaison Engineer to join our team of qualified diverse individuals.
This position is intended to support a 3/10 schedule, however, alternate hours or schedules may be discussed.
This position may be filled at an Engineer or Principal Engineer grade, depending on qualifications.
Candidate will perform the duties of an MRB/Liaison Engineer to support manufacturing personnel in the assembly of aerospace products, by assisting with the disposition of withhold tags. Candidate will research, plan, design, develop, and analyze mechanical or electrical products and systems.
Candidate should have experience with designing repairs for discrepant detail parts and assemblies fabricated from composite materials. Strong communication and collaboration skills are a must. Knowledge of metallic or composite primary and secondary aircraft structures or subsystems (mechanical, fuel, hydraulic, propulsion, or electrical) manufacturing and design requirements is necessary. Must be knowledgeable in a 2D/3D CAD software, such as Siemens NX or CATIA V5. Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution System, MES, and a Northrop Grumman MRB EN signature is a plus.
Responsibilities will include and are not limited to:
Providing timely and high-quality repair dispositions for discrepant material tags
Interfacing directly with stakeholder groups such as Structural Analysis, Materials & Processing and Manufacturing personnel in various design and build facilities
Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and non-engineers to determine effective technical solutions which are innovative, practical, and consistent with organizational objectives
Recommending parts/assemblies for scrap when the non-conforming condition is beyond economic repair, and providing detailed technical analysis reports to support such a determination
Periodically participating in working groups, as needed, to represent engineering design intent while maintaining awareness and consideration of manufacturing priorities
Qualifications for an MRB/Liaison Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years of related professional experience (Master's degree may qualify as 2 years experience)
Experience with military specs and standards
Experience using 2D/3D CAD software (NX, CATIA V5, or similar)
Experience working with composite materials used in aerospace structures Must posses and retain a DoD Secret clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and retain additional program security access
Preferred Qualifications:
Current NGAS MRB buyoff authority; "EN"
Experience working in an aircraft manufacturing facility
Experience writing repairs for aircraft parts & assemblies
Experience interfacing with a military customer
Experience using NX, VisPro, MES, TeamCenter, and CATIA tools
Qualifications for a Principal MRB/Liaison Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution with a minimum of 5 years of related professional experience to include a background in composite airframe structures (Master's degree may qualify as 2 years experience)
Experience with military specs and standards
Experience using 2D/3D CAD software (NX, CATIA V5, or similar)
Experience writing repair processes for composite materials used in aerospace structures
Must posses and retain a DoD Secret clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and retain additional program security access
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
Current NGAS MRB buyoff authority; "EN"
Experience working in an aircraft manufacturing facility
Experience interfacing with a military customer
Experience using NX, VisPro, MES, TeamCenter, and CATIA tools
