Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Flight Test Engineering in multiple locations; Palmdale, CA, Edwards Air Force Base, and Mojave Desert.

The primary responsibility of the Engineering Manager position is as a shift supervisor in a flight test organization supporting the production of the MQ-4C Triton UAV.  Duties include planning and managing work priorities and deadlines, overseeing adherence to company/government policies and procedures, and ensuring that quality and safety standards are met. This position is also responsible for managing technical risk, cost and reporting regularly to Flight Test leadership team on performance.  

Daily responsibilities include leading a team of test professionals to support aircraft configuration, documentation, and scheduling to specific requirements.  

Additional responsibilities include supporting annual procedure updates and audits to meet customer instructions. This manager will have frequent professional interaction with all levels of company leadership, as well as customers, at various management levels concerning operations, scheduling, and specific phases of the test program.  Some travel may be required to support specific programs, ground operations, or special tests.   This position is on 1st shift but may occasionally support 2nd shift or 3/10 shift as necessary.  

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) plus a minimum of 9 years of experience or Masters degree and 7 years of experience.

  • Active DOD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)

  • Experience working at a military test site

  • Flight test experience

  • Previous experience with ground/flight test operations

  • Previous leadership experience

  • Previous RQ-4 Global Hawk, MQ-4C Triton, or other UAV experience


Salary Range: $130,500 USD - $195,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
