Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for an Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Palmdale, CA. This position will support the Product Support organization and will focus on supportability analysis. This position is a hybrid role, consisting of direct support to programs and people management. This position is located at the Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence (CoE) in Palmdale, California and will lead a group of approximately 14 logistics engineers and analysts whose responsibilities include providing supportability design influence to development efforts through the use of supportability and spares modeling using reliability and maintainability (R&M) attributes, and repair concepts as well as forecasting resource requirements for several operational and sustainment contracts.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide management, guidance and development of the R&M/Logistics Supportability Analysis (LSA) teams to include hiring, development, mentoring and conducting performance evaluations for employees as well as establishing and maintaining the appropriate tools and processes applicable to LSA and modeling and simulation
  • Identify/predict operational and sustainment resource requirements through the use of modeling & simulation tools, logistics supportability analysis data and customer defined operational scenarios
  • Ensure key system requirements such as material availability, mission reliability and Operations and Sustainment (O&S) costs are achieved through the use of system supportability modeling & analysis using Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and proprietary modeling tools

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field from an accredited institution with 9 years of experience in Logistics, logistics supportability analysis, and/or management of R&M/ LSA teams; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field with 7 years of experience in Logistics, logistics supportability analysis, and/or management of R&M/ LSA teams; OR a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Current DoD Secret Clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain SAP/SAR access. This SAP/SAR must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Top Secret DoD Clearance
  • Current SAP/SAR access
  • Experience with software analysis tools (e.g. vMetric, EDCAS, Eagle) and practices
  • Familiar with LSA/data developed in accordance with MIL-STD-1388, logistics footprint data, level of repair analysis and support equipment requirements
  • Experience leading a logistics team in a product development and/or sustainment lifecycle


Salary Range: $130,500 USD - $195,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
