Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager 2 to join our Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling organization of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA. This position is part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to develop and field aerospace products.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager 2 to join our Manufacturing Engineering Organization of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be for any of our four available shifts located in Palmdale, CA. This position is part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to develop and field aerospace products.

The selected candidate will manage a team of Manufacturing Engineers for the creation of Manufacturing Bill of Materials, manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides mentorship to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations and engineering specifications. You will also drive the team to support the production floor in a liaison role. These activities include answering assist calls from technicians, processing of MRB tags, performing root cause corrective action, and be responsive to keep production moving.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with 5 years' experience in aviation, aerospace, maintenance or manufacturing/production; OR Master's Degree with 3 years' experience; OR a High School Diploma/equivalent with 10 years’ experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access. Special Program Access is required to start job.
  • Ability to work weekdays and/or weekends, 1st shift or 2nd shift, and alternate work schedule based on program needs (Shift times may vary).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field from an accredited institution with 9 years' experience in aviation, aerospace, maintenance or manufacturing/production; OR Master's Degree with 7 years' experience.
  • A current and active DoD Secret or Top Secret level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation, a periodic reinvestigation, OR an original adjudication date completed within the last 5 years.
  • Siemens NX, TeamCenter, SAP, Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules, responsibilities, and high delivery rates.
  • Experience in leading teams and projects.
  • System Integration of tooling, systems, and process techniques into production lines.
  • Low Observable manufacturing techniques.
  • Structures assemblies manufacturing techniques.
  • Subsystem assemblies manufacturing techniques.
  • Composite bonded assemblies manufacturing techniques.

Salary Range: $118,600 USD - $178,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
