Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

The selected candidate will perform Reliability, Maintainability Availability (RAM) analyses. Candidate will perform RAM-C activities to influence designs; this requires the candidate to have a strong analytical background in engineering analysis. Candidate will support the following activities: Failure Review and Corrective Analysis Systems (FRACAS) reviews, Failure Review Board (FRB) activities, RAM-C requirement development, subcontractor data reviews for RAM products, development of RAM products for DOD customers, flight test activities and other PHM and/or Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) activities. They will be expected to work independently with occasional guidance. 

Job entails interfacing with Engineering and suppliers to assist in conducting complex trades’ analysis for design versus performance and cost. Job includes performing of detailed quantitative and qualitative analytical analyses. It requires excellent communication and teamwork skills and the ability to quickly adapt and synthesize new information, processes, and data for tasks. Must have excellent skills with Microsoft Office, specifically MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field with 9 years of applicable experience; or a Master’s Degree in a STEM field with 7 years of applicable experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 4 years of applicable experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access. This program access must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s of Science degree in Engineering or technical field
  • Knowledge of Navy and/or Air Force aviation maintenance concepts and their impacts
  • Experience in RAM/BIT/PHM Engineering.

Salary Range: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
