The Specialty Test Team is looking for a Machinist 3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Integration, Test and Evaluation organization. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. 
Machinist sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Operator must program, machine, and finish parts independently.

Selected Candidate must be able to work multiple shifts: 4x10 schedule (Mon-Thurs) 1st shift; a 3x10 schedule (Fri, Sa, Su) 2nd shift.  3x10 schedule (Fri, Sa, Su) 1st shift.  

•    Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).  
•    Align and fasten work using standard fixtures and established methods.
•    Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
•    Perform computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.

Basic Qualifications: 

This requisition is a duel level and may be filled at either a Machinist 3 or Machinist 4.

Basic Qualification for Machinist 3

AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience

Basic Qualifications for Machinist 4

AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience

Basic Qualifications for both level 3 and 4

•    Currently has a DoD Secret Security clearance to start and the ability to obtain Special Programs Access (SAP).

•    Able to make machine set ups.
•    Able to efficiently manage project tasks from design reviews through project completion.
•    Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
•    Able to work with guidance in a team environment.
•    Reads and follows blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Associates Degree or Trade School Certification
•    Experienced using scheduling tools, such as MS Project, Familiar with Linux and Windows Operating Systems, Familiarity with avionics systems and equipment, Familiarity with Test Stations / Lab Operations

Salary Range: $59,400 USD - $99,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $70,700 USD - $117,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
