Northrop Grumman Aeronautics is seeking an Affordability Manager 3. The preferred location for this position is Palmdale, California but can also hire in Melbourne, Florida with monthly travel to Palmdale.

What you will get to do:

  • Partner with program leadership and other Program staff focused on driving affordability initiatives including time certainty, risk reduction, and affordability for current EMD and follow-on production contracts. 
  • Coordinate integrated aspects of affordability management, and participates in Program TRB/CCB, PCAB, FRB, Risk & Opportunity Board, Affordability, Production, and Schedule review meetings. 
  • Work directly for the program Vice President of LRIP and Production Readiness on initiatives and risk reduction efforts that drive overall program affordability.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to all LRIP affordability initiatives, to ensure current and future objectives and annual glide paths are met. 
  • Coordinate with Program IPTs/Project areas and functional Operations personnel to develop and execute affordability glide path capture plans. 
  • Drive and execute the program affordability plan and champion efforts with project personnel to identify and implement schedule risk mitigation plans and affordability initiatives to reduce product costs and improve overall average unit costs, schedule, and technical performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related or technical field and at least 9 years program related experience either in affordability, business management or project management
  • At least 4 years in a lead or management role
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Special Program Access
  • Master’s Degree in STEM discipline or MBA from an accredited university.
  • Experience in program execution and demonstrated ability to meet program technical, cost, and schedule milestones
  • Demonstrated ability to create trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex teams comprised of engineering, business, contracts, supply chain, production and mission/quality assurance disciplines
  • Proven ability to lead a high performing team with evidence of being able to create an inclusive work environment that attracts, retains and inspires diverse and engaged teams
  • Proven ability to deliver effective communication verbally, written, and through well-crafted presentations across all levels of an organization
  • Proven IPT and/or Project Management experience achieving mission commitments across multiple phases of program lifecycle.
  • Experience with customer relationship management.
  • Leadership experience in effective change management.
  • Conflict management and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with risk, issue, and opportunity management.
  • Demonstrated ability to make tough decisions.


Salary Range: $163,200 USD - $256,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
