If this is YOU…keep reading! Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager of Manufacturing Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA. The selected candidate will manage a program or a function within the larger organizational unit, setting and operating to objectives and providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives and company policy.  
This position is part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to develop and field exciting aerospace products. The selected candidate will lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers for the creation of Manufacturing Bill of Materials, manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other
  • functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop
  • those techniques.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best
  • utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
  • and engineering specifications. 
  • Leads the team to support the production floor in a liaison role. Activities include answering assist calls from technicians, processing of MRB tags, performing root cause corrective action, and be responsive to keep production moving.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (OR 13 years' with high school diploma/equivalent) and 9 years' of experience in an aviation, aerospace, maintenance or manufacturing/production experience AND 3 years' of leadership experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to interface/communicate with multiple levels of leadership, clients, and vendors
  • This position requires an Active DOD Secret Clearance, with investigation completed within the last 5 years, as well as ability to obtain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline
  • 5 years of leadership experience
  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates
  • Low Observable manufacturing techniques
  • System Integration and Test equipment and techniques into production lines
  • Composite bonded structure and assemblies
  • Siemens NX, TeamCenter, SAP, and Manufacturing Execution
