Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a highly motivated Principal Mission Systems Flight Test Engineer to primarily support the E-2D Mission Systems and Air Vehicle Test program as part of an Integrated Test Team based out of NAS Patuxent River, MD. In this role, you will provide support to all flight test activities, to include test planning, real-time data monitoring, post flight data processing, and reporting on test results. Candidate shall display professionalism, leadership, have a strong work ethic, work well with others, and be able to function as member of the E-2D Integrated Test Team. Some travel will be required, to include detachments lasting several weeks.Key Responsibilities: 
  • Assist in development of test plans/test cards
  • Participate in pre- and post-flight briefs/debriefs
  • Provide support to senior engineers to ensure testing is performed safely and efficiently
  • Plan test missions, which includes test deck preparation, leading engineering briefs/debriefs, coordination with scheduling, maintenance, and leading the test team through test missions as the link between the test engineers and the test aircraft and crew.
  • Provide support for post flight data processing and analysis as required to support mission objectives
  • Provide support in generating data releases and reports to be provided to NGC and NAVY engineering
  • Travel to Melbourne, FL to work with engineering to develop Weapon System Specification (WSS) modification and test new system software and hardware in the Software integration Lab (SIL)
  • Write Problem Reports (PR’s) on new software and hardware functionality and work with engineering to determine potential corrections.
  • Work alongside Navy Test aircrew and engineers to ground and flight test new system hardware and software
  • Write post-flight summaries and debrief engineers on success of flight and test points conducted as defined in the test plan

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 5 years of experience OR Master's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 3 years of experience OR PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 0 years of experience
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance prior to the commencement of employment
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top-Secret Clearance within a reasonable amount of time determined by the Company
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Program Access (SAP) Clearance within a reasonable amount of time determined by the Company
  • Must have experience generating technical documents and working with various software/data processing tools such as MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and other various programming languages
Preferred Experience: 
  • Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline
  • DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Previous E-2D Hawkeye experience
  • Previous Experience with flight test

Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
