Mission Systems Flight Test Engineer/Test Director MQ-4C Triton Unmanned Air System (UAS) Program. We are looking for a well-qualified Sr Principal Flight Test Engineer to support our diverse team in Patuxent River, MD. This is a non-managerial, Individual Contributor role.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for working with the customer to develop a test and evaluation program plan to optimize testing associated with MQ-4C Mission Systems capabilities as well as development of Mission Systems test schedules and test procedures for flight testing. Interface with internal and external organizations to develop test and test data requirements. Support development and maintenance of test plans. Specify air vehicle system configurations and coordinate test planning activity with Flight Test Operations, Instrumentation, and Responsible Engineers. Identify and coordinate the availability of test resources. Participate in flight test readiness reviews, and flight test execution including pre and posttest briefings. Schedule and assist with conducting ground and flight tests. Participate in post-test data evaluation, analysis and discrepancy resolution. Prepare and publish test summaries, test cards and test reports. Compile flight/ground test data and define changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education/Experience: 9 years with a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technical, Engineering or Math; OR7 with a Masters.
  • SIGINT/ESM/RADAR/EOIR design/test experience required.
  • Must have a SECRET Clearance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills as well as excellent oral/written communication skills are required to work in an Integrated Test Team environment.
  • Must be able work independently to solve a variety of complex problems.
  • Must be able to support the conduct of tests plane side indoors and outdoors, as well as from Mission Control Stations and Telemetry Control Rooms.
  • Must be able to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • The ability to obtain and retain a Program Security Clearance is required as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SIGINT/ESM/RADAR/EOIR fight test experience desired.
  • Test Pilot School graduate and/or operational flight/flight test experience desired.  
  • TOP SECRET Clearance desired.

Salary Range: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
