Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Flight Test Instrumentation Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Patuxent River, MD.   Essential Functions: The Patuxent River Flight Test Department is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Flight Test Instrumentation Section Manager and lead a team of Instrumentation Engineers and Technicians on programs within the Aerospace Systems Sector.
  This position requires knowledge of Flight Test Instrumentation data acquisition system design and support of developmental testing of aircraft vehicles.  The Instrumentation Manager responsibilities include the development, design and maintenance of complex instrumentation and data system solutions for laboratory, ground and flight test activities on multiple aircraft platform program. The manager will lead a team of engineers to define data system configurations, sensor selection, installation, checkout requirements, and operational procedures.   Duties include liaison with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to provide the guidance and direction needs for fabrication, modifications, assembly and checkout requirements.   Will also prepare system specifications, Request for Quotes (RFQ’s), Statement of Work (SOW’s) and perform Cost Account Management (CAM) responsibilities that satisfy test and system requirements. Support test activities, anomaly resolution and process improvement initiatives.  Knowledge of telemetry, onboard recording systems and ground stations is required.  Travel will be required to multiple NGC and customer facilities.   The functional responsibilities of the Flight Test Instrumentation Section Manager includes performing duties such as attending functional staff meetings, management of personnel (performance reviews, goal setting & coaching), coordination of job assignments, staffing, recruiting, developing process improvement plans, providing guidance and review for policies, processes and procedures related to the Autonomous Center of Excellence and Flight Test Instrumentation Community of Practice. The candidate must have excellent communication skills, understand the company’s flight test requirements, procedures, and be capable of working in a matrix environment with multiple sources of management guidance. Candidates must be able to support extended shifts, occasional weekends and holidays. Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
  • Minimum of 5 years' flight test instrumentation experience
  • Must have an active DOD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
  • Minimum of 10 years' flight test instrumentation experience
  • Active DOD Top Secret clearance
  • Prior Leadership experience
