Job Summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Staff Systems Test Engineer at our Missile Products Division in our Plymouth, MN location. We are seeking a Systems Test Engineer with proven leadership abilities and experience with Life Cycle Testing, Data Acquisition and Analysis, Instrumentation and familiarity with identifying test facility requirements. Responsibilities will include planning and execution of Test Programs, interfacing with internal and external customers and results analysis and reporting.  The successful candidate will be experienced with environmental, EMI/EMC and energetic testing to enable execution of consistent and robust  test engineering programs. 

Additional duties and responsibilities include:

  • Technical authority for program activities.

  • Coordination with project management, project leads and engineers, and functional management.

  • Creates and manages large scale system and subsystem Test Program Plans.

  • Working closely with design IPTs to develop methodologies to test system and subsystem hardware

  • Provide shock and vibration Signal Analysis Support.  Expertise with data acquisition, filtering, power spectral density, Shock Response Spectrum

  • Expertise with Vibration Control methods

  • Support the planning of the verification and validation program. Document the approach, philosophy, guidelines, and processes to perform and manage verification activities.

  • Familiar with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-331, MIL-STD-2105, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464.

  • Provide Test Engineering guidance to the team. Review and approve TE developed artifacts.

  • Lead and direct the testing and/or evaluation/validation of complete system and subsystem test programs. Knows how to troubleshoot system thermal and dynamic behaviors. 

  • Leads, prepares and presents Systems Test  engineering materials during SRR, SDR, SFR, PDR, CDR, SVR and other formal program reviews.

  • Leads and / or Support Failure and Analysis activities.

  • Performs and manages cost estimates and project planning for a significant portion of larger project

  • Perform CAM duties: manage cost, schedule, technical performance and monthly EVMS reporting.

Education and Experience:

  • Requires BS in Engineering, & 15 years’ experience or Master’s Degree & 10 years’ experience or PhD & 7 years’ experience.
  • Must have active Secret Clearance (minimum) and ability to obtain higher level clearance.


Salary Range: $135,400 USD - $203,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
