The NGMS Field Engineering team based in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Field Engineer or Principal Field Engineer. The Field Engineer will have an in-depth software background to include experience with EW or RADAR and diagnosing hardware to support our Electronic Warfare Stimulator product lines at Point Mugu, CA. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on complex electronic warfare simulators alongside a multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for an individual that is passionate, driven, a self-starter, and goal oriented.

The person selected for this position will be required to undergo training at the Northrop Grumman site in Buffalo, NY for one month prior to working in Pt. Mugu, CA.
 

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Utilize bench software to diagnose hardware issues
  • Write scripts to automate tasks
  • Build Threat Emitter Files

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Interact independently with customers and coordinate engineering efforts within the company to identify solutions to customer reported problems.
  • Provide Engineering support to resolve system level problems reported by the customer on delivered hardware.
  • Maintain operational status and configuration of NGC Electronic Warfare Stimulators.
  • Utilize knowledge, special test equipment (STE), and instrumented data to troubleshoot/repair hardware failures
  • Support customer missions, monitor and convey stimulator performance and assist with generating new emitters.
  • Generate weekly status reports documenting test events and anomalies warranting further investigation.

This position may be filled as a Field Engineer or Principal Field Engineer based on the qualifications listed below.

 Field Engineer Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with no relevant experience; or an Associate's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience; or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to travel (up to 10%).
  • Ability to change physical locations based upon need.
  • Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 50 lbs.
  • Ability to apply technologies, scientific principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Ability to undergo training at the Northrop Grumman site in Buffalo, NY for one month prior to working at Pt Mugu, CA.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that has been granted or renewed within the last 5 years or is currently enrolled in continuous evaluation.

Principal Field Engineer Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree plus 7 years of relevant experience; or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to travel (up to 10%).
  • Ability to change physical locations based upon need.
  • Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 50 lbs.
  • Ability to apply technologies, scientific principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Ability to undergo training at the Northrop Grumman site in Buffalo, NY for one month prior to working at Pt Mugu, CA.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that has been granted or renewed within the last 5 years or is currently enrolled in continuous evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications for both positions:

  • STEM Degree preferred.
  • Strong software background which includes writing scripts, navigating CENTOS or Red-Hat Linux systems from the command line, editing config files and XML knowledge
  • Ability to configure networks and resolve ethernet or fiber communication issues
  • Experience with RADAR, Electronic Warfare systems, RF Engineering, or other electronics background that includes experience testing, troubleshooting, and performing repairs.
  • ELINT Database experience
  • Security+ certification
  • Experience leading teams and interfacing with customers
  • Fluent in RF / Electrical test equipment, Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meter, Oscilloscope and Digital Multi-Meters. 
  • Experience with RF generation equipment, understanding of RF synthesis and mixing techniques.

Salary Range: $68,100 USD - $102,100 USD
Salary Range 2: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
