Our Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Program/Project Manager to join our team in Middletown, Rhode Island for a fast-paced, growing and dynamic position to support our Immersive Mission Solutions (IMS) Operating Unit (OU). Northrop Grumman is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex systems for the US Department of Defense. You will become part of Northrop Grumman’s US Navy PC-based Open Architecture Reconfigurable Training Systems (PORTS) team. The PORTS team designs and develops simulation-based training devices/systems for the US Surface Navy to train sailors on the operation and employment of their combat, weapons, and sensor systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operations of a team (direct supervision of the staff, assignment of work, schedules, day to day workflow, and operating costs). Overall responsibilities include technical performance, cost, and schedule of projects within the Middletown RI PORTS Program. The selected candidate will also support developing new business and expanding business with current and new customers
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as liaison between Program Manager, Customer, and project team
- Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
- Prepare data items in accordance with DoD requirements.
- Adhere to quality objectives, technical metrics, and schedules
- Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
- Brief Northrop Grumman management and Navy customers on project status
- Participate in proposal activities for new projects
Basic Qualifications:
*This position may be filled at higher level based on the following qualifications*
- Bachelor’s degree with 10 experience or a high school diploma / equivalent with 14 years exp may be accepted in Lieu of degree
- 5 years of management experience including profit and loss
- Familiar with software development projects
- Experience using Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MSProject)
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience managing software development projects or HW/SW delivery and installation type projects
- Experience with navy simulation and training systems
- Prior Surface Navy experience with either Aegis, SSDS or LCS combat systems
- Current Secret clearance
- Experience managing Government Contracts
- Experience developing small to large proposals for Development or Sustainment type programs.
- Business Development experience
- Experience presenting project performance to upper management and customers
- Experience with AS9100/ISO9001 or similar quality standard
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.
- DAWIA Program Management Certifications or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
