The Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division of the Northrop Grumman Space Systems sector seeks to fill a Subproject Manager (SPM) role on the Consolidated Operations and Anomaly Support Team (COAST).  Candidate will lead a team of software developers within their Mission Software Subsystem (MSS).  Provide the technical and people leadership skills needed to establish and maintain a world class Software Engineering organization and have overall responsibility for the development, design, implementation, application, training, and product support of state-of-the-art solutions in support of new business CROMs, ECPs, Task Orders, and Studies.  Ideal candidate will have a technical background in ground system architecture, software development, software integration & test, and requirements development and verification.

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to recruit, manage and retain employees. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities include:

  • The successful candidate will have a strong software background and leadership experience in Ground and Space applications.
  • Support functional management activities such as staffing and workload forecast; employee engagement, mentoring and career development; identification and training of skills required to execute on the program
  • Support Business Strategy Efforts (including proposals, gate reviews, and independent review teams as necessary)
  • Provide the processes and tools required to meet the current and future needs of program

Basic Qualifications:

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Proven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Previous ground systems experience with technical background in ground system requirements development, design, software development, software integration & test
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective processes, implement process improvements and streamline activities
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • High proficiency in technical problem solving
  • Active SCI clearance or active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:     

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical or management specialty
  • Leadership role as a Technical Lead, SPM, or Deputy SPM preferred
  • Experience with Agile software development practices, including leadership roles like Scrum Master, Product Owner, etc.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Current NGSP PGS employee working within the GES or MCS Operating Units at Space Park

Salary Range: 140536 - 210804

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
