Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Sr. Principal Engineer Mechanical to support the Structures Test Organization in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will support the execution Static and Fatigue Tests as well as Development of Test Plans and Test Procedures. The selected candidate will work closely with Instrumentation Engineers and Mechanical Technicians. The candidate will be responsible for identifying potential risks during Test Build-Up. The selected candidate will also work closely with the Instrumentation Group, Safety and Quality.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible Test Engineer in charge of Static, Proof Load, Vibration and Fatigue Tests.
  • Supervise and aid in Test Fixtures and Reaction Structures Build-Up.
  • Apply knowledge of Hydraulic Test Fixtures, Servo Valves, Hydraulic Cylinders, Load Cells, as well as working knowledge of Data Acquisition and Load Control Systems.
  • Development of Test Reports, Test Procedures and Test Plans
  • Liaison between Structures Test and Program Stress as well as other stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of relevant engineering experience, OR a Master's in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience, OR a PhD in STEM with 4 years of related engineering experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Previous experience with Static, Proof Load and Fatigue Tests, with Hydraulic Cylinders
  • Experience in Manual Stress Analysis
  • Engineering knowledge of Hydraulic Systems with, Load Control System and Data Acquisition Systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DoD Secret Clearance
  • Experience with Moog Servo Valves, MOOG Load Control Systems
  • Experience with Data Acquisition Systems
  • Design experience with NX
  • Knowledge of FEA with NXa

Salary Range: 114100 - 171100

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
