Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Business Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Business Management and Operations organization. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

The Business Management Manager 3 will be a direct report to the Operations Director of Business Management. This Business Management Manager will partner with the F-35 Operations VP, as well as, Business and Program Managers to manage all financial aspects to achieve the Business Unit’s financial and strategic objectives on the F-35 Program.

The F-35 Operations Business Manager will be responsible for the coordination and orchestration of all aspects of Business Management, concerning the F-35 Operations and Quality organizations and includes, but is not limited to: developing and maintaining a robust EVMS that supports the Operations organization; developing, in conjunction with F-35 Operations leadership, annual Capital requirements; and supporting the development of proposal estimates, finalizing negotiation strategies, and linking negotiation results to baseline budgeting for the Operations and Quality organizations

The F-35 Operations Business Manager will lead an Operations Business Management organization consisting of Operations Budget Planning Analysts and Production Estimating Analysts to support the Operations/Quality IPT. In addition, the F-35 Operations Business Manager will be highly involved in coordinating with a matrix organization consisting of Program Cost/Schedule Control Analysts, Industrial Engineers, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Support leadership, Master Scheduling and OPM personnel. The F-35 Operations Business Manager will provide leadership to the team in coordinating and developing estimates at complete (EAC), financial forecasting, profitability, analyzing risks, issues, and opportunities, reviewing direct labor rate performance, tracking discretionary investments, and working special projects.  

Essential Functions:

  • Lead business management team for Production Build IPT
  • Provide financial business analysis and reporting with the ability to clearly communicate with senior management as it relates to financial program status and analyses.
  • Prepare and present financial data to internal and external customers, including variance analysis and forecasts.
  • Estimate-at-Complete (EAC) preparation and review
  • Solicit, analyze and proactively challenge baseline and schedule inputs/updates as well as recommend work-arounds and strategic alternatives to IPT leads
  • Support the development of Annual Operating Plan (AOP)/ Long Range Strategic Planning (LRSP)
  • Forecast awards, sales, profit, cash
  • Support of production estimating and proposal activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree  
  • Minimum 9 years combined experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or Minimum

7 Years of experience with a Master’s degree in any of the following: Business Management, Cost Management, Industrial Engineering, or Financial Planning

  • Knowledge and understanding of risk and opportunity pressure analysis 
  • Knowledge and understanding of factory operations including EVMS labor planning



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced in performing Earned Value reviews, bottoms up EAC, risks/opportunity/pressure analysis
  • Experience managing diverse capital portfolio
  • Experienced in developing AOP/LRSP
  • Proven track record of successfully communicating and collaborating with different levels of management and integrated product teams
  • Experience with Aircraft Production Programs
  • Experience with manufacturing estimating theory and industrial engineering (improvement curve theory, disruption analysis, crew cycling, and business case ROI)

Salary Range: $141,300 USD - $211,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
