SSSD has an opening for a Systems Security Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

You will be part of a team responsible for developing Systems Security Architecture for advanced space systems. This includes developing program protection plans to assess vulnerabilities and specify mitigations. You will also be responsible for end to end security analysis across the system (Elements, Subsystem, Components), subcontractors, and interfaces to program externals.  

Job Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and at least 5 years of systems security or relevant engineering experience (Master’s degree and at least 3 years OR PhD )
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI access or active SCI access
  • CI polygraph within the last 5 years
  • Experience with Systems Security Engineering activities
  • Knowledge of product development lifecycle and cradle to grave security principles as applied to the SE lifecycle
  • Experience with DoD or IC Space Program
  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers and customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Systems Engineering or related field
  • Experience working in SAP environment
  • Experience working on a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience developing program protection architectures
  • Experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for both IC (ICD 503) and DoD (DoDI 8510.01) communities
  • Knowledge of NSA certification processes, RED/BLACK separation, satellite payload, satellite bus and COMMs
  • Prior Military experience
  • Understanding of Anti-Tamper, TEMPEST and Nuclear Surety standards and how these relate to systems security
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong interpersonal and analytic skills


Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
