The System Engineer in this role designs, develops, integrates and tests key Radio Frequency (RF) ground antenna systems, and corresponding remote terminal electronics. Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Knowledge in the following areas would be beneficial: DOORS software database, RF parabolic systems, Software defined radios, remote controlled systems, Model based system engineering, Cyber security, Timing system, signal waveform, modulation schemes, International standards, Straight line drawings.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Principal Systems Engineer:

  • 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree; 0 years of experience with a PhD
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Experience leading the execution of test campaigns and producing testing documentation such as test plans, procedures, and reports
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance

Senior Principal Systems Engineer:

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree; 4 years of experience with a PhD
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Experience leading the planning and execution of test campaigns and producing testing documentation such as test plans, procedures, and reports
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Direct experience using the DOORS Requirements Management Database
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML, UML) and concepts
  • Excellent technical writing and team building skills
  • Experience working with Ground Segments and Space Systems
  • Knowledge of communication theory and experience with antenna systems.
  • Experience with ITAR and international agreements.
  • Active SCI and/or SAP Clearance

Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
