We have an opening for a Staff Systems Engineer to join our talented, diverse team in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will support the Ground Segment (GS) Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) IPT. This position is responsible for being the MBSE Lead for the Ground Segment and will work closely with the Chief Architect to ensure the architecture is realized using MBSE. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Chief Architect to lead internal architecture meetings and external architecture meetings with customer representatives
  • Provide guidance and oversight for the modeling products developed in CAMEO for the program and other engineers working in the model
  • Collaborate with a variety of team members (thread leads, developers, system integrators, system testers, system requirements engineers) to support delivery of a number of CDRLs including interface design products, Software Design Document, Algorithm Design Document, Software Architecture Document, etc.
  • Maintain technical cognizance of subsystem interdependencies in support of maturing ICD’s for identifying and resolving gaps
  • Incorporate cross-IPT feedback to support the development and approval of the products
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Support systems engineering, trade studies, integration and test, verification and validation, and technical planning through Agile processes

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 14 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 12 years of related experience
  • Practical working experience with system architecture design, trade studies, and performance analysis and simulation
  • Experience using CAMEO, a system architecture modeling tool
  • Experience using DOORS, a requirements management tool
  • Familiar with Agile Project management methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership qualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills

Salary Range: $156,600 USD - $234,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
