SSSD has an opening for a Program Integration (PIT) Engineering Section Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

The Program Integration Engineering Section Manager is a “dual-hat” Engineering Manager responsible for both section management (up to 20% of time) and existing program responsibilities (80% or more of time). Along with reporting into a program, the Section Manager is also a member of the Space Systems Engineering functional management organization.

The Section Manager shall be the functional management point of contact at the work site for the Space Systems Specialty Systems Engineering (SSE) Department and will support and implement activities supporting Space Systems initiatives, reporting directly to the SSE Department Manager.

Role and Responsibilities:

- The Section Manager will generally be responsible for technical staff members in the PIT section, along with their roles specific to program execution
- Ensuring members have sufficient statement of work, balancing resources among programs, and verifying proper charging practices are followed including time card approval
- Managing member performance, creating and delivering performance evaluations, overseeing the salary review process, and supervising employee development and mentoring efforts (including engagement strategies for higher performers and corrective actions for lower performers)
- Coordinating with programs to ensure appropriate staffing/destaffing actions are developed and executed relative to their section, and managing employee movement between programs
- Program Independent Review Team (IRT) support and proposal support of Space Systems PIT related SOW
- PIT Process review and ownership
- Meeting indirect budget targets and interpreting higher level guidance for implementation within the organization for process implementation and improvement

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience OR
- Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years of engineering experience
- Must be able to couple this section manager position with a program assignment at the Redondo Beach, California location
- Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering and/or PIT Engineering
- Staff management or project management experience is required to lead and mentor more junior team members and interns
- Active DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

Preferred Qualifications:

- Graduate degree in Engineering, or closely related technical discipline from an accredited institution
- Ability to effectively interface with other Engineering and Production disciplines across the Sector, as well as Programs, Business Development, HR, Mission Assurance, etc
- Experience working with Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- Previous PIT experience including but not limited to: integration support across portfolio of programs, project staffing demand/plan, facilities planning & coordination, operational efficiency initiatives, risk management, weekly temp/program meeting rhythm, and supporting costing exercises and supporting proposals

Salary Range: $143,500 USD - $215,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
