We have an opening for a Sr. Principle Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Space organization. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

In this role, you will become part of Northrop Grumman's Strategic Space Systems Division. We are looking for a high-caliber individual with a background in software mission assurance, software quality, configuration management or audit compliance of software space programs. In this role, you will monitor, audit, and assure software product development compliance to contractual requirements, company standards of excellence, and customer satisfaction.

To be successful in this role you should have a good understanding of software development life cycles that align with ISO, AS9100, Agile experience in software product’s compliance audits and root cause corrective action, holds a detail oriented approach to identify and capture noncompliance and risks throughout the software’s development life cycle and maintenance.

Excellent people and technical skills are required to coordinate with subcontractors, various subsystems and interact with management to conduct audits and implement corrective actions. He/she will implement software mission assurance as an integrated part of the SS Mission Assurance Organization, while working with Dev Ops, Systems Engineering, and Simulator Software to identify and resolve process and product compliance issues. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Experience in the review and extraction of quality assurance requirements from documentation

  • Establish, implement, and maintain a software mission assurance plan and practices used to ensure products and tools conform to company standards of excellence

  • Support tailoring and implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures including performing internal compliance audits and bring non-conformances to resolution

  • Interpret customer technical, software, and mission assurance requirements and ensure those requirements are integrated into program plans, specifications, and product documents

  • Interface with software subcontractors in the verification of product design, quality, and reliability

  • Ensure compliance with contract program, quality, organizational, and industry alert requirements

  • Analyze and interpret trends and execute improvements on key metrics

  • Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) analysis and Problem Solving activities on program-specific deficiencies

  • Represent Software Mission Assurance at various program reviews and review boards

  • Ensure Software Risk Management activities are executed according to standards and procedures

  • Provide Supplier Chain Management support for product procurement including resolution of requirements exceptions form offers/suppliers, Subcontractor Data Requirements (SDRL) reviews, supplier audits, and inspections

  • Witness software build testing, flight software qualification, and Integration and Test

  • Provide Lab support and lab verification in preparation for Software Certification testing

Basic Qualifications:

  • 9 years of experience with a Bachelors in Science in a STEM field; OR 7 years of experience with a Masters; OR 4 years of experience with a PhD

  • Experience in a Software Mission Assurance or related field such as systems engineering, software development, or software configuration management

  • Able to read and interpret engineering documentation such as contractual standards, program plans, statement of work, requirements, software specs, test plans/procedures and/or software test reports.

  • Able to read and understand Software Code including but not limited to: C++, C#, Python, etc

  • Experience with ISO and/or AS9100 standards requirements

  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances:
    Dept of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years; OR SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action tools

  • Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems and software development tools (e.g. DOORs, Jira, Confluence, BitBucket., or others)

  • Advanced experience in applying waterfall, spiral, and Agile life cycles

  • Excellent writing communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas

  • Exceptional customer responsiveness

  • Ability to follow established processes and procedures

  • Be detail oriented and self-driven

  • Ability to successfully work multiple concurrent tasks

Salary Range: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
