Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Manager Electrical Engineering 2 - Space Electrical Power Systems & Design Integration Section Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Vehicle & Software Engineering Directorate. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

As a Section Manager reporting to the Electrical Power Systems & Design Integration Department, you will spend up to 20% of your time leading a group of 10 to 15 engineers responsible for space vehicle electrical power subsystem, battery, solar array, electrical design integration, cable & harness, and/or command & telemetry database engineering. You will spend the balance of your time (~80%) providing engineering support to various Space Systems programs.
 

The Section Manager has the responsibility to:

  • Perform resource planning and staffing to meet program demands. 
  • Participate in career fairs, social networking events, and college hiring events.
  • Promote team member development including skills training, professional seminar sponsorship, and training material development.
  • Be an advocate for the career advancement of your team by promoting knowledge sharing and mentor/protégé relationships.
  • Execute performance management, including employee goal setting, feedback solicitation, performance discussions, compensation planning, and issue resolution.
  • Lead the deployment, measurement, and improvement of tailored, lean processes and tools.
  • Provide proposal, technical project standup, and program review support.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer science, or related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 7 years of engineering experience OR Master's degree in STEM with 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain at least ONE of the following U.S. Government security clearances: Department of Defense Top Secret level OR SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior functional management experience OR engineering team lead experience.
  • Previous experience with space vehicle electrical power subsystem, battery, solar array, electrical design integration, cable & harness, and/or command & telemetry database engineering.
  • Have at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: Department of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years OR SCI access with an SSBI completed within 5 years OR Department of Energy Q clearance with an SSBI completed within 5 years.

Salary Range: $143,500 USD - $215,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
