This candidate will conduct preliminary design synthesis and analysis of advanced manned and unmanned air vehicles demonstrating technical expertise and knowledge of other related disciplines. Tasks include takeoff/landing, mission and point performance characteristics of candidate aircraft designs as well as design synthesis and optimization of vehicles to meet operational requirements. This candidate will conduct vehicle sizing and performance trade studies to define and evaluate advanced concepts, identify technology requirements, perform parametric trade studies and provide design guidance to the other team disciplines.  Competitive vehicle performance assessments of current U.S. and foreign inventory designs may also be required, as well as flight test data analysis and correlations to performance models.  They will develop technical solutions to various problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. The candidate will be required to interact and brief external customers, as well as serve as a technical lead. Candidate will support vehicle performance and sizing analysis for vehicle programs from government organizations such as Air Force, Navy, NASA, DARPA and others.  Experience with MATLAB/Python, Linux and Fortran, as well as a strong interest in computational methods is desirable.

Candidate will provide analysis, guide design teams to execute program goals, support proposal and business development activities. Strong interest in Multi-disciplined optimization methods is preferred.

Basic Qualifications for an Engineer level:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a related Aerospace Engineering field with a Bachelors or;
  • 0+ years’ experience in a related Aerospace Engineering field with a Masters
  • In Scope DOD Secret Clearance
  • B.S in Aeronautical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, ModelCenter, Linux and/or FORTRAN
  • Organization and leadership skills

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer level:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a related Aerospace Engineering field with a Bachelors or;
  • 3+ years’ experience in a related Aerospace Engineering field with a Masters or;
  • 0+ years experience in a related Aerospace Engineering field with a PhD
  • In Scope DOD Secret Clearance
  • B.S in Aeronautical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, ModelCenter, Linux and/or FORTRAN
  • Organization and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+/7+ years in Vehicle Performance and Sizing discipline with a Bachelors or;
  • 2+/5+ years in Vehicle Performance and Sizing discipline with a Masters or;
  • 0+/2+ years in Vehicle Performance and Sizing discipline with a PhD
  • In Scope DOD Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience in Multi Disciplined Optimization Methods
  • Strong code development experience
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills

Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
