Northrop Grumman South Bay Aircraft Design is seeking an experienced engineer to support our Environmental Control System and Power Thermal Management Team. The Systems Architect designs and develops system architectures, and defines key capabilities and performance requirements.

This requisition may be filled at either an Engineer or Principal Engineer level. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with a team of engineers on the development of controls algorithms, plant models, and testing procedures
  • Setup and maintain software test environments
  • Deploy DEVOPS practices for regular testing of algorithms
  • Test control strategies on hardware and identify failures of the algorithms
  • Track performance metrics of software executing on hardware
  • Automate processes associated with the testing of control strategies
  • Defines design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Develops thorough definition of system external interfaces. Defines system implementation approach and operational concept.
  • Ensures requirements are met and evaluates performance with customer.

Basic Qualifications for an Engineer:

  • For Engineer (T02) position: Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 2 years related engineering experience, OR a Masters in STEM with 0 Years of related engineering experience
  • Current Active DOD Secret Security clearance or higher, and the ability to obtain Special Program Access
  • Knowledge of aircraft power and thermal systems
  • Experience with deploying and testing software on hardware systems
  • Technical interfacing with suppliers
  • Hands-on experience with fluid supply components design life cycle including design, manufacturing, qualification, RCCA, delivery, integration, and testing

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer:

  • For Principal Engineer (T03) position: Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years related engineering experience, OR a Masters in STEM with 3 Years of related engineering experience, OR a PhD in STEM with no experience
  • Current Active DOD Secret Security clearance or higher, and the ability to obtain Special Program Access
  • Knowledge of aircraft power and thermal systems
  • Experience with deploying and testing software on hardware systems
  • Technical interfacing with suppliers
  • Hands-on experience with fluid supply components design life cycle including design, manufacturing, qualification, RCCA, delivery, integration, and testing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong fluency in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++
  • Additional Bonus: experience with aircraft VMCs
  • DEVOPS tool experience (e.g. Git, JIRA, Jenkins)
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DoD Clearance

Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
