We are seeking an experienced Staff Systems Engineer– Operations Training Lead (TL) to join our qualified, diverse team. The TL will lead the development, delivery, and presentation of operations training curriculum to customers. The selected candidate will work with customers, mission operations teams, system developers and program management to design and develop training material to support automated scenarios, mission exercises and certification events for the customer and internal operations personnel, as required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Works with the systems engineering, software and hardware developers and operations teams to identify training needs and develop training plans and curriculum such as reference guides, operational guides, and evaluation tools
  • Works with mission operations personnel to ensure training curriculum and scenarios accurately represent current operational documentation used during on-orbit checkout and commissioning of satellites as well as during execution of primary mission(s)
  • Supports system development activities such as requirements management, architecture development, integration and test and formal program milestones
  • Interfaces with program and customer personnel regularly
  • Participates in and makes recommendations for business activities such as Proposals, Basis of Estimates, and Requirements Analysis as well as other business development and capture activities
  • Product deliveries include:  Lesson Plans, Powerpoint Presentations, Training Videos, Computer Based Training, Scenarios, Test/Quizzes, Student Guides, Training Plans, and other training material as necessary to support contractual training requirements

Successful candidates will be excellent communicators, planners and team leaders with proven results in fast paced and rapidly changing environments. They will have significant experience in all aspects of training and have a full understanding of Instructional Design models and Adult learning theories and activities. Finally, candidates will have significant experience in the space operations industry in a variety of space mission specialties.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 14 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 12 years of relevant experience
  • Experience developing and presenting training material IAW Instructional System Design Processes
  • On-Console Command and Control Satellite Operations
  • Ground System anomaly troubleshooting and resolution
  • Procedure development and verification
  • Project Management and Scheduling experience
  • Experience leading operational training programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Operational/on-console SATC2 experience supporting commercial or government space systems
  • Web/video based training development experience
  • Interactive Computer based training
  • Lesson plan development
  • Simulation/scenario development
  • Test/Quiz Development
  • Tactics, techniques, and procedure development
  • Basic understanding of software development processes
  • Experience with Agile Development Processes
  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers, and customers

Salary Range: $156,000 USD - $234,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
