Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for a Database Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates and installs database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management. Uses data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. Determines data storage and optimum storage requirements. Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.

  • Creates connections and engineers data pipelines for Product Lifecycle Management systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems, and Enterprise Resource Planning systems in support of data analysis, reporting, and visualization.

  • Supports machine learning projects through dataset design and feature extraction.

  • Creates data automation through various tools to transport, extract, aggregate, and manipulate data.

  • Advises data analysts on appropriate interpretation of data from various sources.

  • Collaborates with other team members to develop holistic solutions in support of actionable decision making.

  • Design, builds, and maintains databases for custom built web based applications.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science plus 2 years of related experience; OR a Masters degree plus 0 years of experience

  • Experience preparing SQL (Structured Query Language) queries in support of data analysis and/or visualization activities

  • Experience with programming language (e.g. Python, C#, or Java) fundamentals

  • Experience with relational database design

  • Experience preparing and/or delivering training or educational materials

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with a data visualization software (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Looker)

  • Fundamental knowledge of working with the Pandas and Numpy Python libraries

  • Experience working with forecasts and projections of sales/demand

  • Knowledge of database development in support of web based applications

  • Experience with a version control system for code management (e.g. Git, SVN)

  • Experience with a project management ticketing software (e.g. Atlassian Jira, Microsoft Azure Dev Ops)


Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
