The Aeronautics Systems Analysis and Simulation organization is looking for an agile, cross-functional architect and modeling/simulation engineer with a passion for developing a deep expertise in military systems and systems level architecture. In this role, you will work with a small cross-functional team to model various scenarios, develop models, and perform analysis for a wide set of domains, such as friendly and adversary, ground, maritime, air, and space. These studies drive the development of drive requirements for new programs, refine existing program system requirements and influence the pursuit of future technologies and capabilities. This position will be located on site in our Redondo Beach, CA offices.

Successful candidates should have a diverse engineering background with key focuses on Systems Engineering and/or programming.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop new and/or integrate existing system simulation frameworks, performance models, algorithms, and threat models
  • Simulate real-time operations and develop software that simulates behaviors of systems using AFSIM
  • Models operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures.
  • Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis to ensure performance capabilities meets cost and mission requirements
  • Agile Project Management
  • Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership within the organization.
  • Evaluates desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance.
  • Develop mission relevant scenarios and assess operations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree and 12 years of experience, or 9 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering Experience and/or Systems Engineering Architecture Development.
  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Model Simulation & Analysis (MS&A), Operations Analysis.
  • Familiarity with Military concepts, tactics, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with AGILE/SCRUM
  • Experience in AFSIM Modeling and SIM
  • Excellent communications skills, including the ability to present and brief technical date to all levels of leadership within the organization and U.S. Government.
  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance with current or previous Special Program Access (SAP)/SCI.

Salary Range: $156,000 USD - $234,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
