Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Antenna Sub-IPT Lead Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA. This opportunity is specific to the Antennas and Electronics (A&E) Links Sub-IPT Lead Role in the ARIS Business Unit (BU).

The A&E Links Sub-IPT Lead will lead a cross-disciplinary engineering & production team responsible for the design, development, production and sustainment of Antenna and RF units. The A&E Links Sub-IPT Lead must be able to continue building upon the strong teams within the BU, drive execution, lead effective and meaningful change within the program and functional homeroom, and solve very complex technical problems.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Essential Functions: 

  • Executing the program schedule and technical baselines to complete the design, build, integration and delivery of flight hardware, with a strategic focus on affordability
  • Manage the critical production activities for a A&E Links hardware for multiple shipsets 
  • Directing the management of multiple suppliers and subcontracts
  • Identifying and realizing opportunities to reduce cost and improve processes
  • Communication & information flow to project team and functional homeroom management, as well as fulfilling reporting requirements to customer & program management

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment with high expectations and diverse assignments. Candidate must also be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, manufacturing engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 14 years of experience with space communication hardware and system management OR 12 years of experience with a Master's Degree OR 9 years of experience with a PhD. 
  • Experience with CAM (Cost Account Management) reporting tools for overall program management and system delivery 
  • Ability to integrate, engage and lead a team diverse in skillset to perform and deliver their very best
  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: 
    • Dept of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years OR
    • SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years OR
    • Dept of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution and 15 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment producing flight hardware for advanced payloads 
  • Demonstrated strong people and technical leadership skills; with experience leading a team of >10+ employees
  • Antenna design development and sustaining experience spanning cradle to grave
    • Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills
    • Experience supporting bid & proposal activities
    • Familiarity with antenna design, antenna manufacturing processes and antenna qualification activities

Salary Range: $156,000 USD - $234,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
