If so, then Northrop Grumman is the place for you. Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an HR Business Partner Manager 3 to provide leadership within our Strategic Space Systems Division. This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA and reports to the HR Director for SSSD Operations

As an HR Manager you will partner with the HR Leader to drive strategic human capital plans that support BU and division goals, providing HR guidance and counsel to leaders, managers, and the HR team regarding succession planning and talent development, organizational design and change, reward and recognition, compensation, organization effectiveness, managing performance and conduct, employee relations, and staffing.

Specific duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Establishing and leveraging a solid understanding of the business, building and expanding relationships with division operations, engineering, BUs and creating close partnerships across HR centers of excellence (COE's) to develop strategic human capital recommendations and solutions to address staffing, retention, engagement and development needs
  • Identifying trends, risks, and opportunities within the organization to advise leadership on talent decisions and actions
  • Providing business insight through data analytics, research and benchmarking to inform and recommend solutions to enable business growth and/or support business integration.
  • Playing a key change leadership role in the company's transformation by reinforcing a culture of growth and innovation. Leading integration and change projects to evolve organizational capability and improve our operating model.
  • Managing leadership development and succession planning initiatives to prepare leaders for future roles.
  • Coaching and consulting with business leaders to build leadership depth and address critical roles/skills needs. Partnering with leadership and HR team on employee development plans.
  • Consulting with and training management on managing performance and conduct. Performing complex and comprehensive investigations and developing organizational correction actions.
  • Leading a team of HR Business Partners by providing day-to-day guidance, flow-down, coaching and support to optimize their performance.
  • Serving as the HR Business Partner to an internal customer base, employee through the director level.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or a related field and 10+ years of HR experience – OR – a Master's degree in HR or a related field and 8+ years of HR experience.
  • Demonstrated success in building or enhancing a collaborative work environment with the capacity to understand people issues impacting the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, implement and close multiple complex projects simultaneously on various HR work streams and meet schedule and commitments.
  • 2+ years’ experience managing employees as a direct supervisor.
  • Ability to listen, communicate, collaborate, and influence effectively across all levels within the organization.
  • Initiative to identify and anticipate needs and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • US Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability to obtain and hold DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • Previous experience in Aerospace & Defense and/or government contracting.
  • Experience leading a team as a Human Resources Manager.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and technology (Workday, Confluence, SharePoint).


Salary Range: $141,300 USD - $211,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
