Northrop Grumman Global Operations Security has an opening for a Manager Computer Systems Analysis to manage a team of Windows and Linux Systems Administrators supporting a classified enterprise WAN.  This position is a second level (level 2) Manager Computer Systems Analysis role within the Enterprise Services department and will be located in either Redondo Beach, CA or Rolling Meadows, IL.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead a team of Windows and Linux Administrators performing direct work on computing systems supporting a classified enterprise WAN

  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills

  • Use good judgement to pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results

  • Work closely with program-assigned technicians, systems administrators, systems engineers, and management in order ensure the domains, servers, storage and applications stay in a high state of readiness. 

  • Maintain a high quality of system efficiency

  • Ensure government and Cyber/Information Security standards are met.

  • Oversee and manage the quality and timeliness of the organization’s products, and identification and remediation of potential issues before they become problems

  • Manage to budgets and schedules and create work assignments for team.

  • Maintains smooth operation of the primary and backup data center and computing systems including systems on local area, world wide and virtual private networks (VPN)

  • Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration, maintenance and updates of hardware and Operating Systems, software elements, and security standards

  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of Data Center power, cooling, Systems management, interconnection and interfacing with networking equipment

  • Understand requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.

  • Prepares or ensures that appropriate Systems documentation exists, including operational instructions

  • Provides regular monitoring and analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems

  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for servers, systems, and hardware

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree with 11 years of relevant IT experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of relevant IT experience, or Master's degree with 7 years of relevant IT experience; a High School diploma/GED and 13 years of relevant IT experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.

  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain a DOD Secret level security clearance.

  • Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT level 2 baseline certification (examples include: Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, GICSP, CND, SSCP); OR must have the ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of start date

  • Experience with firewalls, switching, and routing

  • Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection

  • Experience working with and obtaining support from network suppliers such as Cisco, Palo Alto, etc.

  • Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed and carry a company phone for possible ‘after hours’ support

  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Information Technology Management

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance

  • Proven interaction in a distributed team environment

  • A professional certification specific to the Windows or Linux Administration

  • Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs

  • Strong understanding of project management Agile or waterfall

  • Demonstrate strong team building/collaboration skills

  • Proven leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrate exemplary professionalism and ability to maintain composure in stressful situations

  • Demonstrated ability to build diverse/inclusive teams with engaged team members

  • Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills, and excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)

  • Previous experience leading a team of 15 - 20 employees with a record of on-time performance

  • Time management and organizational skills to prioritize across concurrent program and functional responsibilities


Salary Range: $124,600 USD - $195,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
