We have an opening for either a Hardware Systems Administrator (level 2) or a Principal Hardware Systems Administrator (level 3) to join our qualified team in Redondo Beach. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to design, develop, document, and test systems, build up servers and racks and place software on them, and ensure that the systems are effective while taking into consideration performance and security implications. We cover a wide variety of DevOps technologies including Atlassian suite of tools (Bamboo, Jira, Bitbucket), Fortify, Ansible, and many more.

What you’ll get to do?

As a Hardware Systems Administrator, you will support a very fast-moving team to help design, model and develop the ground system for the Space Development Agency’s (SDA) low earth orbit constellation for SDA’s Tranche 1 constellation. The constellation is a mesh network of 126 optically-interconnected SVs that will provide a resilient, low-latency, high-volume data transport communications system that will be launched starting in September 2024. SDA’s vision is to deliver a minimum viable product on time, every two years to the warfighter by employing spiral development methods.

Tranche One Tracking Layer (T1TRK) is part of an ambitious space architecture to bring next-generation communications capabilities to the warfighter around the globe. This program builds upon existing Transport Layer capabilities to perform OPIR tracking missions for the DoD.  You will join an integrated, agile team to expand the Tranche One Ground System portfolio on an aggressive schedule. Core Responsibilities:

  • Support existing efforts to design and install hardware, including servers and racks
  • Install software on the hardware, and create, implement, and automate scripts

This requisition may be filled at either a Hardware Systems Administrator level or a Principal Hardware Systems Administrator level

Basic Qualifications for Hardware Systems Administrator:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 1 year of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Administration of Linux (RHEL/CENTOS) 5/6/7/8 servers and workstations in a production environment
  • Ability to script in SCCM, PowerShell or Python
  • Ability to install RHEL operating system from media as well as customizing and installing packages
  • Install RPM packages from the command line as well as through YUM
  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance

Basic Qualifications for Principal Hardware Systems Administrator:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 4 years of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Administration of Linux (RHEL/CENTOS) 5/6/7/8 servers and workstations in a production environment
  • Ability to script in SCCM, PowerShell or Python
  • Ability to install RHEL operating system from media as well as customizing and installing packages
  • Install RPM packages from the command line as well as through YUM
  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM
  • Experience in the deployment of I&T lab environments
  • Implementation of Security controls for Linux Servers and workstations
  • Experience creating and managing Risk Management Framework packages
  • Experience with Agile development and continuous integration and test
  • Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements, streamline activities, and develop efficiencies
  • Proficiency with DevOps technologies including Jenkins, Fortify, Ansible, Atlassian suite
  • Prior experience working with DISA Secure Host Baseline
  • Proficiency with AntiVirus packages and deployment, in addition to STIG hardening

Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
