Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an immediate opportunity for a Sr Principal Project Management position on the F-35 Program based in Redondo Beach, CA.  In this position, your key roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support the Control Account Manager (CAM) in managing all contract level Sustaining Labor and Non-Labor Dollar control accounts on the F-35 Program and become SME for the Sustaining accounts/pool, major tasks below:
    • Baseline contracts according to budget issued – leverage B&G model
    • Support in providing direction for Labor / Non-Labor Dollar Pool Targets by Organization Breakdown Structure
    • Review month end performance and determine significant cost variance drivers
    • Review sensitivities by contract against the various assumptions made in the B&G model to determine High/Medium/Low Pressures / Opportunities by contract
    • Provide Baseline Target / Estimate To Completion (ETC) changes
    • Support in providing direction for Labor / Non-Labor Dollar Pool and discrete labor base assumptions for B&G model; review month end B&G model update
    • Support in the generation of the primary Labor Pool estimates for Proposal, Negotiation strategies, Fact Finding, Requests For Information (RFIs), FLOOR position recommendations and direct negotiations with the customer
  • Support the F-35 Program Integration Manager in developing/standardizing tools, program metric visibilities & processes to streamline/improve Program and Functional organizational execution efficiency to ensure future program profitability and longevity in the following areas:
    • Effective Program performance metrics
    • Centralized data/tool source
    • Eliminate data/process redundance
    • Program organization structure enhancements
    • Build/enhance collaborative multifunctional team culture
    • Program resource & staffing management

Successful candidates will have the following key attributes:

  • Proactive – anticipates requirements from higher management and initiates and completes actions required to meet those requirements.
  • Perceptive – sees the “big picture” but is also able to focus on the details and follows all of them through to completion.
  • Composed – maintains a “level head” in the extremely dynamic, fast-paced, and demanding environment on the F-35 Program and is able to make snap decisions, especially when working closely with Executive Leadership, including the VP & F-35 Program Manager and Directors on the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
  • Possess Good Judgment– becomes a key resource and the “go-to” person for the ELT in the F-35 Program Office and can be trusted to make good decisions affecting expenditure of company resources without appreciable direction.
  • Reliable – can be counted to complete assigned projects with highly compressed timelines and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks without appreciable direction

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of aerospace industry work experience, or Masters Degrees and/or Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree and a minimum of eight (8) years aerospace industry work experience
  • Prior experience on an Integrated Product Team (IPT), preferably in a lead role in a Production or Supply Chain function in a large manufacturing environment
  • Project Management experience from conceptual to product deployment
  • Experience with MS Office with extensive MS Excel knowledge

Optional Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as Control Account Manager (CAM) is highly desirable, but not an absolute prerequisite
  • Effective communicator 
  • Strong collaboration skills

Salary Range: $103,900 USD - $155,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
