Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division is currently hiring Metrology Manager 1 to join our team qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California for 2nd shift operations.

The selected candidate will manage the Northrop Grumman Redondo Beach Metrology Services Department 2nd shift operations. They will be responsible for manage a diverse organization of 10+ employees who test, calibrate, maintain and repair electronic measuring and test equipment (M&TE) to ensure contractual requirements are met. Tasks include staffing, employee development, establishing and implementing policy, program support, increasing organizational competitiveness and ensuring adequate laboratory technical capability. Required skills include exceptional communication with all levels of personnel from entry level to senior leadership as well as external and internal customers.

Essential Functions:

-Coordinate with 1st shift managers across all labs to ensure effective hand off of work between 1st and 2nd shift

-Manage 2nd shift workload and employees for one across all metrology disciplines at Space Park

-Provide leadership and direction to team, ensuring sufficient statement of work, manage workload effectively, including, but not limited to: quality, cost, scheduling, subcontracting, cycle time, productivity and efficiency

- Manage employee performance and engagement including career planning

- Act as the first point of contact for technical issues with metrology technicians

- Participate in recruiting and hiring activities supporting the Metrology Services department

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED with 5 years of calibration/metrology/testing/scheduling experience

  • Experience in Metrology Systems based on industry standards AS9100, ISO 17025, ANSI z540-1, ANSI z540.3

  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

  • The ability to work 2nd shift (1pm - 11pm), and support other shifts as needed

Preferred requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Active, DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance

  • Experience calibration or management of Metrology Systems based on industry standards .


Salary Range: $89,800 USD - $134,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
