The Advanced Mission Programs (AMP) Team, a large restricted development program, is seeking a highly motivated individual that will lead and manage the Ground Software (SW) Engineering Team.    The SW Manager is responsible for leading a team of approximately 60 software engineers and will provide innovative and effective software engineering solutions to complex technical problems.    Tasks will include: managing all aspects (technical, schedule, and cost) of the SW team; staffing; providing staff during site installations; leading the team in organic growth proposals (including CROMs & ECPs), authoring TD/BOEs and proposal development (including submission, capture, and negotiations); interfacing frequently with internal and external stakeholders, including cross-program counterparts, Tech Support, and the customer; and managing AMP SW assets;  The SW Manager will be tasked with setting and operating to program objectives and providing guidance to employees.  Additional responsibilities include planning, risk management, and project performance.  Candidate will work closely with the AMP SW APM, Deputy SW APM, Integration Support Group, and Systems Engineering & Integration team.  The SW Manager will work in a dynamic team environment, ensuring personnel follow well-defined processes and will be responsible for managing all software development tasks from inception through completion.  The candidate will be responsible for briefing SW status at customer meetings, and PMRs.
Ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, presentation, organizational, professional development, and mentoring skills.  Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements, streamline activities, and develop efficiencies.  Ideal candidates will have a proven technical background in ground systems software development.  Previous Mission 1 domain ground system experience highly desirable.  Active SCI or TS clearance required.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 14 years of related experience; Master's Degree with 12 years of related experience; or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience leading a team of software engineers in software development deliverables and processes
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Current SCI access or current DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access prior to start date 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mission 1 experience
  • AMP experience
  • Experience with Agile and DevSecOps methodologies
  • Experience working with internal and external customers
  • Previous software experience working in a C++/RHEL environment
  • 5+ years of previous management experience as a Software Manager, SPM, or Technical Lead a plus
  • 5+ years of experience performing as a CAM managing cost, schedule, and technical teams a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a challenging work environment
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
