Explore your future and launch your career today.     Do you want to work at an international company with endless opportunities for growth and advancement?  Are you eager to join a trust-based, globally-connected team, where your contributions will define what’s possible?   We are looking for team members who want to solve interesting, complex problems, which protect our nation.   Northrop Grumman is looking for you to join our team as a Software Manager 2 based out of Redondo Beach, CA.      The Consolidated Operations and Anomaly Support Team (COAST) has an immediate need for a Sub-Project Manager (SPM) in their Application & Ground Services (AGS) software subsystem in support of a large restricted Operations & Maintenance (O&M) program. The SPM will manage a team which will include two to three Deputy SPMs and about 15 SW engineers.  The technical manager must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal communication, presentation skills, and work closely with the Software (SW) Assistant Program Manager (APM) and SW Deputy APM.   Duties will include:
  • Directing all aspects of the Sub-Project’s software tasking from inception through completion
  • Directly supervising and management of the Sub-Project including team tasking and support of management meetings and reviews
  • Coordination and interfacing with other SW Sub-Projects, IPTs (Hardware, Infrastructure Support Group, Systems Engineering, Operations Engineering), external customers, and site personnel
  • Ensuring personnel follow well-defined processes in a dynamic team environment
  • Completion of tasks with minimal direction/oversight
  • Working in both open & restricted development environments
  • Mentoring junior software engineers

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 9 years of related work experience; Master's Degree with 7 years of related work experience; PhD with 4 years of related work experience; or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience leading a team of software engineers in software development deliverables and SDLC processes
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management, including the COAST Program Office
  • Current SCI access or Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access prior to start date
  Preferred Qualifications:  
  • Experience working with internal and external customers
  • Agile/SCRUM Software Development experience
  • Previous software experience in a C++/Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment
  • Experience with COAST software design and code
  • 5+ years of previous management experience as a Deputy SPM or Technical Lead is a plus
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
