This position will be reporting out of Northrop Grumman’s South Bay Systems & Specialty Engineering Center of Excellence (CoE) located in Redondo Beach, CA. Work will require the ability to travel 50% of the time to support program efforts.   Position Overview:   The qualified applicant will support a diverse portfolio of research and technology development activities. As part of your assignment, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to determine how survivability technologies can best be integrated into air-based systems within the NGAS portfolio.   Northrop Grumman is one of the industry leaders in Stealth Technology. As such, we are involved in all phases of development, production, and maintenance of Low Observable (LO) platforms. We are currently looking for experienced Low Observable / Survivability Engineers to work on a variety of challenging projects. One area where we are in need of talent is Radar Cross Section (RCS) Analysis.
Essential Duties:   
  • Utilize 1D, 2D, and 3D computational electromagnetic codes such as Method of Moments (MoM) and Physical Optics (PO) to develop technical solutions for survivable technologies.
  • Apply previous experiences in design, fabrication, indoor and outdoor test, and data post-processing to verify survivability designs for survivable platforms and components.
  • Apply previous LO design experience in survivable material systems and repair concepts to a new LO design that enhances the Reliability, Maintainability, and Supportability (RM&S) without degradation of survivability attributes.

Basic Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 9 years engineering experience OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of engineering experience OR a PhD Degree in a STEM discipline and 4 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience directly related to low observable technologies, specifically related to the design and/or development phase of an LO program.
  • Knowledge of survivable material technologies and supportability concepts.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to support program efforts.
  • A current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP).
Preferred Qualifications:  
  • Experience with physical optics codes such as Xpatch and the ability to use meshing tools such as CAE, FMS, or Cubit.
  • Experience working with model fabrication teams and indoor/outdoor test facilities.
  • Experience with RCS data processing tools, such as Knowbell or Pioneer.
  • Experience with in-house or commercial Method of Moments codes such as SENTRi or HFSS.
  • Experience equivalent to leading at least one low observable technology from requirements and design phase through demonstration in a laboratory (TRL 4) or relevant environment (TRL 5).
  • Experience proposing and running successful R&D efforts to develop survivable components and technology, including budget, schedule, tasking, and review of technical products.
  • An active U.S. Government issued DoD Top Secret security clearance and/or previous SAP/SAR clearance.
