Explore your future and launch your career today. Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, is seeking an Staff Engineer Tool to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in support of the Materials, Manufacturing, Integration, Test & Launch (M2IT&L) directorate located in Redondo Beach, CA. Staff Tool Engineer job duties in the Tooling Department involve the following: Designs industrial machinery and equipment, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments required for production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
Designed tools should consider such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance. The position also supports offsite tooling efforts including: managing tooling suppliers, solving technical fabrication concerns at suppliers, traveling to suppliers to ensure NGC tooling requirements are met, coordinating with the analyst team for supplier bids and schedules.
Staff Tool Engineers are expected to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex and difficult problems. They are problem solvers who have the ability to provide results that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives. We seek a Staff Engineer Tool that uses a unique skill set that includes a hands-on approach and act as a technical representative voice for the Tooling organization.LosAngelesSpace

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree plus 14 years' of tool design experience OR Masters Degree plus 12 years' of tool design experience OR 18 years' of tool design experience plus a High School Diploma/General Education Diploma (G.E.D).
  • Proven record of tooling design capability and innovation at all levels of complexity.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Machine shop experience, metal/composite fabrication experience or experience with aerospace tooling.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret or SCI security clearance if required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
  • Aerospace/Satellite tool design production experience using composite materials.
  • Proficiency with CATIA V5 and/or NX solid modelling.
  • Proficiency with TeamCenter and/or Smarteam.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Dedication to providing high quality work within specific time constraints.
