Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Sr. Principal Chemist to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

If this is YOU…keep reading!  The position involves working in the Chemistry Laboratories group that performs chemical analyses to assist in resolving manufacturing, development, research, and technology issues for Northrop Grumman Corporation. The successful candidate will be capable and comfortable working independently, proactively, and collaboratively. The successful candidate will have the skills to evaluate and apply analytical chemistry techniques to solve a broad range of engineering problems associated with specific programs or research projects. The candidate should also have hands-on experience with thermal analysis instrumentation (TMA, TGA, DSC, rheology, etc). This individual must have effective social skills, data reduction and analysis, and technical writing ability to interface with a variety of disciplines. The successful candidate will be required to develop an internal customer base for the basis of their ongoing tasks.

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry and 9 years of experience in a chemistry environment OR Masters of Science in Chemistry and 7 years experience in a chemistry environment; PhD degree in chemistry and 4 years of  experience in a chemistry environment. 
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SCI security clearance.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Active US Government security clearance.
• PhD in chemistry
• Able to operate and interpret data from analytical chemistry instruments in the chemistry lab
