Job Summary

We are seeking a manager for our Electrical Engineering Design group at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) location in Rocket Center, WV.  ABL develops and manufactures a broad range of products, primarily for defense, with a focus on tactical solid rocket propulsion.  This technical management position oversees the Ignition Safety Device electrical design engineering team supporting development, design, and test activities of Ignition Safety Devices for rocket motors. The EE Manager will work with the Program Managers and the lead electrical engineers to coordinate and support the day-to-day activities of the EE engineering team assigned to the respective program and will also act as a technical lead, technical contributor, or technical consultant on various projects.  The EE manager will also focus attention on the career development needs of the team members. 

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Mange the daily operations of the EE Design Group
  • Provide leadership and development support to the team members
  • Evaluate performance of individuals and provide feedback during periodic discussions
  • Work with program managers and engineering leads to ensure the right people, processes, and tools are in place to meet the business needs
  • Work with the electrical engineering leads to help oversee the supervision of engineering activity, workload management, and performance management process
  • Assure established policies and procedures are being followed

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, a candidate must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering and five (5) years of ISD design experience or MS in Electrical Engineering and three (3) years of ISD design experience
  • Strong knowledge of electrical circuits
  • Demonstrated the ability to mentor early career engineers
  • Proficient in various electrical analysis tools
  • Sound technical decision-making skills
  • Excellent leadership, influence, and people management skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to effectively communicate to all levels of employees, management, and customers
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Experience as Technical manager, lead, or other similar leadership role with team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Experience working on ISDs/fuzes is a plus.
  • Experience with design and test of Ignition Safety Devices
  • Experience with electrical or safety analyses for ISDs/Fuzes
  • Position prefers a candidate with an active DoD Secret security clearance

Salary Range: $103,300 USD - $154,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
