At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) engineers at our Rolling Meadows / Arlington Heights, IL location.  The selected candidates will report to the SEIT Department in the Infrared Countermeasures (IRCM), Product Support, Radio Frequency (RF), or Targeting Department.  Systems Engineer opportunities area available in three disciplines in SEIT support the various product areas:

Integration & Test: You will conduct integration testing and evaluate complex electronics systems from hardware/software design through aircraft installation.  Your key responsibilities will be to ensure that the systems we make work – and work well.  This will involve the creation and execution of Integration, Design Verification Test, and Flight Test plans and procedures.  You’ll be able to apply your knowledge and experience in one or more of the following specialties we have on site: EO/IR/RF systems, sensors/antennas, transmitters/receivers, optics, detection and tracking.  Tasks can vary in location from on-site activities in one of our Systems Integration Labs (SILs) to activities out in the “field” (test events, ranges, customer sites, etc.) and they can consist across a broad spectrum of environments and complexities.

Modeling & Simulation: A primary task for a modeling and simulations engineer is development of in-house models and algorithms. Typically, models are in MATLAB and represent various aspects of the system from antenna performance to whole system engagement models. Strong domain knowledge combined with valuable software development skills are required to produce the accurate models that drive the critical analysis needed to design our future systems. This department also includes engineers that are involved with creating and refining Model Based System Engineering products (System behavioral models, Use Case realizations, State Machines, etc.), generation and update of System and sub-system level specifications in DOORS, including requirements traceability, creation of Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRM), verification traceability (tracing requirements to test plans/procedures/results), and update and maintenance of system drawings and documents. As a part of the SEIT team, a Systems Design engineer is exposed to the front-end Systems Engineering process and coordinates across many disciplines to ensure that the system description and requirements are properly and thoroughly defined and captured.

Product Support:  Opportunities exist on three different teams, Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), Coding Team, and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) team.  In FRACAS, you will support a process used to identify and manage the initiation of corrective actions for problems that impact the reliability of a system and monitor the effectiveness of the system’s reliability performance.  As part of the Coding Team, you will create applications for various organizations to streamline the way they visualize and consume data to make business decisions.  As part of the GFE team, you would work with the Program Management organization, Contracts, Depot, Engineering, and Customers to ensure on-hand GFE will meet program needs.

During the interview process, our team will seek to understand both your experience and preferences in order to determine which area provides the best opportunity for you to succeed.
