Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Agile Coach to join our Navigation, Targeting and Survivability Division Program Execution team in Rolling Meadows, IL.

Summary of Role:

This is a key role responsible for developing and implementing strategies that lead a program in their adoption of an agile mindset as demonstrated by the adoption and consistent use of agile principles and values, practices and most importantly behaviors. The Agile Coach must be able to cultivate relationships with program leaders and staff and gain their confidence and trust as a Subject Matter Expert. The Agile Coach will support Program Execution in a variety of strategic improvement efforts to increase operational efficiency, enhance knowledge transfer and create a lean and agile culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading: Create a culture where the entire workforce is engaged in continuous improvement and continuous learning
  • Advising: Credible to give tactical and realistic advice that is actionable
  • Coaching: Servant-lead others to develop an agile mindset as demonstrated by behavioral changes
  • Mentoring: Provide ongoing peer support to help others mature in their practices and behaviors
  • Facilitation: Able to organize teams and larger groups to achieve sustainable outcomes.
  • Plan building: Use agile techniques to properly capture and drive improvement initiatives
  • Team-building: Strong collaboration skills, able to bring people together and lead others though conflicting negotiation and resolution
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with program and business leaders across the division
  • Act as a change ambassador by modeling agile behaviors and helping leaders to cultivate a learning and innovation culture
  • Consistently demonstrate progress through metrics which measure progress towards desired strategic outcomes
  • Support business agility improvement projects aligned with strategic business OKRs
  • Conduct Lean, Kanban and Scrum training, product backlog and retrospective workshops, Lean Agile development workshops

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience; 8 years with a Masters; 4 years with a PhD.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of recent agile experience coaching teams and programs within DoD or Federal government or other high-compliance environment
  • Experience working with Scrum, Kanban, Feature Driven Development, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration & Delivery, Dev*Ops, Scrum@Scale or Scaled Agile (SAFe) and Lean/Manufacturing practices
  • Experience with Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Must have strong leadership and verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Must have broad organizational change and transformation experience with concentration in the development of strategies, roadmaps, integration, implementation, and/or operations of complex, large-scale information systems and technologies
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance (or higher)
  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
  • At least 4 years of experience leading teams in an Agile environment, including cyber-physical solutions, embedded development, and multi-team projects
  • Experience with transitioning teams from waterfall to agile methods and practices
  • Experience with agile metrics and dashboards
  • Possess one or more of the following certifications or equivalent: Certified Enterprise Coach (CEC) , Kanban Certification, Certified Scrum@Scale Practitioner/Trainer, SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) , Certified Scrum Professional ( SM/PO)

Salary Range: 119800 - 179600

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
