Description:

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Packaging Engineer/Tool Design Level 2/3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Rolling Meadows, IL and will report to the site Industrial Engineering Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

The Packaging Engineer/Tool Designer will ensure that the location is packaging all product per the customer spec as a packaging engineer and support operations with Tool Design support

Packaging Engineer – Primary Function

• Responsible for developing and maintaining Packaging Instructions for packers.
• Review customer packaging requirements ensure flow down of proper standards.
• Work with programs to determine requirements needed for product by understanding contractual obligations, program needs and customer wants.
• Work with packaging and marking requirements for the Government and DoD.
• Familiar with plywood and crating process.
• Create packaging estimates for proposals.
• Coordinate with Packaging/Crating companies to coordinate custom packaging for unique or sensitive items that to not work with standard packaging material.

Tool Design

• Support Tool Design team designing tooling as time permits.
• 3D model in NX and create drawings to be released in MPLM system per ADTM drawing standards.
• Submit jobs to model shop as required to have tooling fabricated
• Communicate with outside vendors for quotes as required
• Support additive manufacturing 3D Printer/Rapid Prototyping efforts.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:

• Bachelors of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with preference to Packaging Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• At least one year of packaging or design experience is required.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Level 3:

• Bachelors of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with preference to Packaging Engineering degree
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• At least one year of packaging or design experience is required.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience and proficiency with NX software is required.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D software is required.
• Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Experience integrating models from various platforms in STEP formats.
• Familiarly with ASTM Drawing Standards
• Department of Transportation (DOT) 49CFR Certified in US Domestic Hazardous Materials, Dangerous Good by Air and Radioactive.
• Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
• Demonstrate highly effective interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Proficiency in packaging or material handling design compliant to ISPM-15
• Familiarity with military and commercial packaging standards, including MIL-STD-2073

MANUMS

Salary Range: $71,500 USD - $107,300 USD

Salary Range 2: $88,000 USD - $132,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
