Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems has an opening for an Associate Reliability Engineer/Reliability Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Rolling Meadows, IL.

The Reliability Engineer support the Navigation, Targeting, and Survivability division.  Candidate will be responsible for identifying and managing the initiation of corrective actions for problems that impact the reliability of a system and monitor the effectiveness of the system’s reliability performance. The ideal candidate has the desire to learn and grow, and will be trained on the specific responsibilities related to reliability engineering.


  • Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations in accordance with Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) processes.
  • Maintains FRACAS database, inputs records, assigns codes, and assures integrity of data
  • Assures completeness and accuracy of failure and/or discrepancy documentation
  • Review FRACAS data for trends
  • Determines if detailed failure analysis is required, and, if required, coordinates failure analysis activities
  • Assures closure of all failure documentation
  • Create FRACAS reports
  • Coordinate Failure Review Board (FRB) process
  • Chair or co-chair hardware FRB

This position can be filled at the Associate Engineer or Engineer level:

Basic Qualifications Associate Engineer Reliability:

  • Bachelor’s in Science from an accredited college/university
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications Associate Engineer Reliability:

  • Basic understanding of electrical components, modes of operation, and failure modes.

Basic Qualifications Engineer Reliability:

  • 2 Years of engineering experience with Bachelor’s in Science from an accredited college/university; 0 Years with Master’s Degree from an accredited college/university
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications Engineer Reliability:

  • Experience in Reliability and Maintainability Engineering discipline.
  • Understanding of electrical components, modes of operation, and failure modes.

Salary Range: $59,100 USD - $88,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $71,500 USD - $107,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
