The Mechanical manager will oversee a group of engineers and/or designers performing opto-mechanical design. Responsibilities include leading and developing engineering staff, representing the organization to customers and stakeholders, overseeing project execution, allocating staffing across multiple programs, monitoring and improving design processes, coordinating proposal activity, and facilitating collaboration across organizations.


Relevant Skills and Experience:

  • The Mechanical manager will have relevant experience in one or more of the following disciplines: mechanical engineering, optical engineering, manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, integration & test, or hardware engineering. The candidate should be familiar with manufacturing and procurement.
  • The Mechanical manager will have demonstrated highly ethical behavior, and will have developed strong people leadership, project management, and communication skills. He or she will have demonstrated success in leading and developing teams, overseeing project execution, and representing the organization as a prime point of contact for internal stakeholders and external customers.


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering / Physics and minimum 8 years relevant experience; or MS degree in Engineering / Physics with minimum 6 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated success in leading, collaborating, and building teams on complex technical projects
  • Demonstrated interest in process improvement initiatives
  • Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and individual contributors
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in Engineering / Physics
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Warfare system/hardware
  • Prior success in leading and developing technical staff

Salary Range: $124,600 USD - $186,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
